Tooth Replacements

Dentures

Dentures are removable tooth replacement options that can replace one or more teeth. All of our Dentures are fabricated using high quality TGA approved materials and made at Australian Based Dental Laboratories and will frequently involve 5 appointments to create.

Our dentists can discuss in detail which options are most suited to you. Below is a list of some of the most commonly recommended denture options.

  • Full Dentures are usually made across 5 appointments and are the most cost effective way of replacing an entire jaw's worth of teeth. Full Dentures are made acrylic and are generally low maintenance needing relining or replacement every 5-10 years. Full Dentures can be used to immediately replace the last of someone's remaining natural teeth needing extraction.

  • Partial Acrylic Dentures have an acrylic framework and teeth with metal clasps that when the denture is worn wrap around some of the remaining natural teeth. Partial acrylic dentures can be used to immediately replace teeth needing extraction. Partial Acrylic Dentures are best suited as a short to medium term tooth replacement option.

  • Partial Chrome Dentures have a metal framework with acrylic teeth attached, the denture stays in using metal clasps that wrap around natural teeth. Partial Chrome Dentures are Stronger, more hygienic and longer lasting than Partial Acrylic Dentures.

  • Valplast Dentures are made of a special Flexible Plastic. Valplast dentures hold in place using tooth or gum coloured clasps that wrap around natural teeth, These Dentures are difficult to adjust long term.

  • Implant supported dentures are a combination of another style of denture and Dental implants to help create a more retentive Denture.

Bridges

Bridges are a non removable or fixed tooth replacement option and involve an artificial tooth attached to one or two adjacent teeth. Bridges are a highly technical procedure that requires careful assessment and preparation of teeth.

  • A direct bridge is a short to medium term tooth replacement option involving creating an artificial tooth from the same material that is used for tooth coloured Fillings. This option can be performed in a single visit but there is more limited in its aesthetic outcomes. Direct bridges ideally replace a single tooth only.

  • Maryland bridges are laboratory fabricated bridges usually having high quality aesthetic outcomes Maryland bridges are attached to an adjacent tooth using some bonded extensions and usually involve removing minimal additional tooth structure. Maryland bridges are a medium term tooth replacement option. Maryland bridges are an excellent option but are only suitable to be placed in very specific situations.

  • Traditional Bridges are Laboratory fabricated bridges and have the most predictable and high level aesthetic outcomes. A traditional bridge is one or more teeth being replaced and involves a crown being placed on one or more teeth adjacent to any space. Traditional bridges are considered long term Tooth replacement options

Implants

Our dentists can replace single teeth or short spans of teeth with Dental implants.
Implants are Small Titanium screws placed into the jawbone upon which prosthetic teeth can be placed. Implants do need to be surgically placed but are usually considered one of the most comfortable long term tooth replacement options.
